Key Findings

The ecosystem is structurally bifurcated. Interface agents (ChatGPT, Claude) and code agents (Gemini CLI) serve fundamentally different users with almost no overlap. They represent two parallel visions of agentic AI: consumer delegation vs developer automation.

ChatGPT is the only truly consumer-diverse platform. With 26% Management, 21% Lifestyle, 12% Productivity, and 7% Creativity, it's the only platform seriously building the "do things for me" vision across everyday domains.

Claude sits between both worlds. Despite being an interface agent, 78% of Claude's apps are AI & Programming tools (MCP servers). Its ecosystem profile is structurally closer to Gemini's code agents than to ChatGPT's consumer connectors. Claude is a developer's interface agent.

Gemini CLI dominates in volume but not in breadth. With 1,058 extensions — 94% in AI & Programming — it reflects the open-source developer community building tooling around a new CLI paradigm, but hasn't expanded beyond its core technical audience.

The agentic gap is wide. Categories like News, Health & Fitness, and Education have minimal representation. The promise of AI agents managing everyday life tasks is largely unfulfilled outside of travel, shopping, and business tools.
